SO glad that we found Saucy Mama's when visiting :) It's a cute food truck located about 20 minutes outside of Hilo with beautiful gardens and a cozy seating area. The owner and her sweet mom are SO friendly and accommodating. I could stay and chat with them for hours! There are several vegan items on the menu, and that's what we came for! The African Peanut Soup is out of this world. I head someone leaving say that they didn't realize it was vegan when they ordered it and it blew their mind! I've been vegan forever so can't say the same, but it was absolutely incredible. My vegetarian son had the nacho fries and they happily made them veggie for him. We were all smiles and would eat here again in a heartbeat!

What a wonderful find! I dined here with my family yesterday and the food is incredible. Their menu changes daily and we had the pineapple curry, luau plate, pork tacos, fish tacos and peanut soup. Incredibly delicious food and wonderful chef. Thank you!!!

Today’s special is amazing!! The jerk chicken burrito was bursting with a tropical fusion flavor, so creative and tasty. The chicken was super tender and juicy, and I loved the subtle hints of coconut, banana, cilantro, and mango. The thai pork soup was also really good too. Definitely coming back for more

The tacos were AMAZING!!! I would eat the sauce on the pork tacos every day if I could! Owner and her mom were just lovely and kind, offered to take a picture for us and made our family feel welcome. Whatever she recommends for drinks - get them. They were so refreshing and not too sweet. Outdoor seating was quaint and cute. You’re right near the road and there are some strays around, but that wouldn’t deter me from going again.

Sometimes, the best meals find you! We stumbled across Saucy Mama’s thanks to a few shining stars on Google, and thank goodness we listened. Tucked away like a secret worth keeping, this place served up an amazing pork plate. The Kalua Pork Tacos were a were a perfect mess in the best way. Tender, rich pork tucked into warm tortillas, kissed with a generous raspberry chipotle drizzle that made each bite memorable. It was the kind of food that makes you close your eyes for a second, just to savor it. If you ever wonder whether the universe sometimes nudges you toward happiness, trust me, it does. And sometimes, it smells like roasted pork and tastes like Saucy Mama’s.

I am so glad we stumbled upon Saucy Mamas food truck on our way from Volcano National Park to Hilo. Not only was the food AMAZING to eat but it looked beautiful too. Both ladies working were so friendly. The owner went above and beyond to make me so happy. I was looking for some fish tacos and they didn’t have any on their menu that day. She went in the truck and whipped me up the most beautiful fish taco I’ve ever eaten. It was so delicious. She even elevated my pineapple garnish by sprinkling cinnamon on it. Who does that and why was it so good? What awesome customer service! My family got the kalua pork tacos and the African peanut soup and loved their meals also. If you are ever in the area and find yourself hungry make sure to stop in you won’t be disappointed.

We arrived right before closing. They were wonderful and even after a super busy day and being sold out of most everything they went above and beyond in their service. Highly recommend! And the food was delicious! Pork tacos and samosas were amazing.

Chose this place based on the wonderful reviews (and location!). Boy were the reviews correct! I got the pork taco plate and it was huge! So much food. And excellent! My husband got the hula dog, which was also excellent and interesting flavor combination. They were so friendly and helpful explaining the dishes, and came to check on us to see if we needed anything else, even sharing some recipe tips! You won’t be disappointed!
